All that changed, however, at the end of a DC Comics crossover event called Final Crisis. When we open Elegy (a word that means “a mournful, melancholy, or plaintive poem”), Batwoman is hunting down members of a satanic, crime-based religion, and comes into conflict with their leader Alice. Batwoman: Elegy, by Greg Rucka. So when I tweeted at Greg Rucka (@ruckawriter) to congratulate him on the awesomeness that is Batwoman: Elegy, I squeed a little bit at getting a response (it was "Thank you. Batman was apparently killed by the villain Darkseid. There's a nice moment between them in Batwoman: Elegy (DC, 2010). Batwoman: Elegy, by Greg Rucka (author) & J.H. Batman responds, “Do something about the hair.”. I must admit, however, that it was the fact that Rachel Maddow wrote the introduction to the first Batwoman collection, Elegy, that really piqued my interest and helped me notice the title in the first place.
